EfficientShip Finance provides a complete turnkey solution to public and private ship owners wanting to cut energy costs and carbon emissions through investments in energy saving solutions. We provide the capital needed for these projects, as well as the technical expertise to install, monitor, and consult on all aspects of ship energy efficiency.

We engage in two areas of fuel cost control:

  • Installing a mix of fuel efficient technologies that reduce the daily fuel consumption of Globally-trading ships
  • Retrofit ships to meet ECA Zone emissions requirements via dual-fuel Exhaust Scrubber installations or LNG duel-fuel conversions.

 

EfficientShip Finance requires no net capital expenditure from our customers, and we offer the Shipowner:

  • A portfolio of proven, market leading, energy saving solutions
  • Flexibility in the selection process for an optimal mix of solutions and vendors
  • Negotiations with long-term Charterers and Operators to maximize possible savings share to the Shipowners
  • Design & Installation of all agreed solutions
  • Follow up with technology providers to ensure timely supply and installation.
  • CFD analysis and/or model-testing of all solutions
  • Sea-trials or consultant’s attendance on first voyage after installation.
  • Post-installation monitoring and maintenance overview
  • Independent auditing of the fuel cost and financial savings achieved

 
 

ESF funding is repaid by sharing the bunker fuel savings or increased charter hire achieved by the solutions implemented.  Third-party Performance Monitoring companies are used to track the achieved results over time and to ensure continuous results.

ESF seeks a fair split of the savings between all parties involved in each project, and always considers the effect of the market dynamics, operating conditions, and relationship with Charterers, where the Shipowner does not directly keep all of the achieved savings.  The payments are structured in a manner where the actual savings are greater than any payment to ESF.

 Fuel-saving guarantees are negotiated, where applicable, with the various solution providers, to minimize downside risk.
